Tucked away between Bowery and 2nd Ave. in the East Village rests two quaint decor shops that belong to the fabulous designer, John Derian. Though small in size, these side-by-side flagship stores certainly do not lack stature. Famous for his handmade, vintage-inspired decoupage (the art of cutting and pasting into a collage) plates, John Derian is featured in countless magazines from Vogue to Elle Decor-for good reason; his decoupage, furniture, and accessory shop is a decorator’s utopia. Walk into either store and your senses are bombarded by bright colors, textures, and patterns from the ground to the ceiling. It’s hard to not fall in love with with these two little shops on 2nd Street.
